How does PEC work?

Porter Education Consulting accomplishes its mission with the following steps:

The PEC Process

1. Evaluation of the student’s transcript, testing and course selection.
2. Developing a plan to maximize a student’s interests and talents for their high school experience.
3. Interest inventories and skill assessments to help a student explore career possibilities.
4. Extensive conversations with the student and parents to help identify what the key factors will be in creating a list of possible colleges.
5. Frequent contact with the student and parents following the creation of the ‘list’ to gain feedback and continue to evaluate potential schools.
6. Monthly mailings and checklists to be sure deadlines are being followed.
7. Assistance with planning college visits.
8. Financial need assessment. Assistance with completing financial paperwork.
9. Identifying sources for scholarships as well as identifying colleges likely to award merit scholarship to the applicant.
10. Supervision of the application process to be sure materials are submitted in a timely fashion.
11. Evaluation of acceptance offers.
